Second Goal: Capacity building for social innovators
The Foundation supports non-profit organizations and social entrepreneurs who have creative and innovative ideas in the non-profit sector.
Non-profit organizations, a third sector of the economy, have changed the world in ways that governments and traditional businesses cannot.
Non-profit organizations and social entrepreneurs discover and define society’s blind spots; lending a helping hand to those in need. The non-profit sector has been carrying out more and more efforts to adapt to the fast changing environment and to promote greater sharing. It has managed to amplify its social impact through strategic decision making, and has revitalized individual and local communities via a continuous development of capabilities.
Roadblocks remain, however, that prevent the sustainable development of the non-profit sector.
- Weak financial power
- Low citizen participation
- Trust issues
- Lack of management expertise
- Lack of independence
- Dependencies to subsidies
The Asan Nanum Foundation aims to expand the strength and influence of non-profit organizations and social entrepreneurs, helping both groups to gain a variety of experiences and expertise. We provide professional leadership education to managers of non-profit organizations and pass on working knowledge and experience to young leaders who are dreaming of one day heading their own NPOs. Overseas tours and study abroad opportunities are two aspects of the support we provide to these young leaders, allowing them to experience the bigger world and return to bring best practices to Korean social sector. We bring together experts who can provide both financial and non-financial support that can help in the development of stronger organizations.
